31 Day Challenge 2.0, Day 6: Monochromatic - Asa no Ha Nail Art

Nothing to Disclose

Oh man, two posts in one day!? Next up in our Saturday posting spree is Day 6 of the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge! Our theme for today was Monochromatic (meaning a mani using varying tones of the same color) and I ended up doing a fun variation of the Asa no Ha pattern for today's look.

I love how monochrome looks - I have a blue night stand in front of a blue wall in my bedroom! - so I was excited for the potential of today's mani. I remembered seeing an amazing mani from Emily of Very Emily a few days back and decided I needed to recreate it in some way. And so, my Asa no Ha monochrome nails were born!

At first glance, this seems like I crazy intricate design and a bit on the daunting side, but fortunately, Emily put together an awesome tutorial to help explain the steps. I contemplated using just one color and the grey base for these, but I wanted to put my own spin on it and really delve into the monochrome theme by using several shades of blue instead.

I like the look of these a lot. I like the gradient affect going down the nail and I love that these managed to look lacy and delicate!

I started with a base of Madam Glam's Cashmere Party (which I just reviewed here!) then followed Emily's tutorial and started painting with the medium toned blue in the center. This blue is one of my new acrylic paints and I've been dying to try it out - anyone know of a similar shaded polish? It's lovely! I followed the middle toned blue up with the dark and light blues on either end of my nails. To make it easier to see the pattern, I ended up matte top coating these (big surprise!).

What do you think of this look? Be sure to check out the inlinkz below to see what the other two ladies have been up to for this theme!

Happy Polishing! :)
