31 Day Challenge 2.0, Day 1 - Orange: Cute Fox Nail Art

Nothing to Disclose

Hello, all! It's been almost a week since I last posted and I apologize! Once again, I'm using work and personal life as my excuse for being missing in action, but I'm back...and I've got an exciting challenge to keep me occupied for the next few months! I will be taking part in a new version of the 31 Day Nail Art Challenge!

Meghan of Will Paint Nails for Food (who I did the traditional challenge with last year) and Kelli from The Nail Polish Challenge will be taking on a modified version of the 31 Day Challenge every Monday and Thursday through the end of the year. We have all done the original challenge and really wanted to try something new and different for us! Even though I'm ALREADY a day late with keeping up with this challenge, I am so excited to be partaking in this with these talented ladies :)

Day one's theme is Red or Orange and I knew immediately that I wanted to do orange. I love orange. I think I'm definitely in the minority for this, but it's one of my favorites (I've got a deep orange wall in my living room, I love it that much!). I've had it in my mind for awhile to attempt fox nail art and today's theme seemed like a great opportunity to give them a shot.

Annnnd they were tedious and tough to paint! It was a huge challenge to repeat the general shape of the fox each time, the same size. I really tried to keep it consistent, but I don't know that I managed it as well as I'd hoped. I still like them, but they are a bit derpy ;) I also like the vintage-y feeling that these have, like story book foxes!

I used a base of China Glaze's New Birth (a super light blue) from the new The Giver collection (which I love!) and then painted the orange body of each fox with acrylic paint and a detail brush. I followed that up with the white of the tails and chest, then added the black of the ears, face and legs. I sort of wish I had skipped the legs because I think it makes them look a bit odd, but I still think they're cute in their own way :)

I hope you're all as excited about this challenge as Meghan, Kelli and I are! Be sure to check back Monday and Thursday to see what we've come up with, and feel free to try the challenge yourself - just be sure to tag your stuff with the #31DC2 tag!

Happy Polishing :)
