nothing to disclose
Hi all!
How sad is it that I'm a week behind on my own dang challenge!? I've got a quick post today to share my Themed Thursday Monsters mani! Last week was a bit of an emotional roller coaster for me I wasn't able to focus my energies on nail art. I also struggled a bit with what exactly to paint for today.
My initial thought was to paint the traditional Halloween monsters - vampires, mummies, zombies, and the like. But when I sat down to paint these, I couldn't find inspiration. I didn't know how to put my own spin on these and so I just sort of sat on it and mulled it over for far too long. After over a week of sitting with 100+ monster related tabs open on my computer, I finally decided to "eff it! I'll just do this!"...and painted little monsters inspired by this pattern.
Sometimes, you just have to give in and do something that you maybe don't love 100% just to get it done. I have perfectionist tendencies and I always want to put my best work forward...but when I do this, I'm realizing that it stifles my creativity. I wasn't even able to consider doing any other nail art until I was finished with this prompt and it felt awful! It was looming over my head and I ultimately ended up having zero desire to paint this mani or any others.
So I'm taking this as a lesson. Sometimes I just need to give myself some slack and paint something that might not be my favorite just so I can keep the creative process alive.
Anyway, that's my big long rant! I don't love these by any means but I still wanted to share. I'm hoping to do the next theme, Blood & Gore, tonight and have them ready to share by tomorrow (maybe if I type it here that will actually happen ;P ).
Do any of you suffer from the type of creative block of experiences that ends up blocking ALL creativity? How do you get through it?
If you haven't seen my past Themed Thursday posts, you can check them out here :)...or head to Instagram (or social media in general) and check out the hashtag #themedthursdayoct (you'll also see all the other manis people have been doing - they're awesome!).
