Paint All The Nails Presents Monochrome

nothing to disclose

Hello, all!

Hope your week is going well! I'm so excited about today's post because I'm ACTUALLY doing some nail art! Yay! Better still is that I'm doing nail art alongside some of my favorite nail artists...I'm finally getting around to posting with the ladies of Paint All the Nails!

This month we've challenged ourselves to do monochromatic nail art. While monochromatic is generally values of any one color, we've decided to stick to traditional black, white, and grey for today. I'm so excited to see what everyone comes up with for today, but first, let's take a look at the design I've painted.

nothing to disclose

Hello, hello! No, your eyes aren't deceiving you, I am in fact posting for Digital Dozen week again! And! For the first time...well...ever, I've got all 5 DD posts FINISHED before the start of the week! I know, I'm not even sure who I am anymore either ;)

This week we're tackling the general theme of "Neon". This can be any take on it we'd like, so for day one, I got intricate and messy all at once!

Shimmer Polish - Melissa: Swatches & Nail Art

Press Sample

Hello, all! Today I have a Shimmer Polish shade and some simple nail art to share with you! I chose to use Melissa today because the mix of purple, fuchsia and gold glitters just felt so 'fall' to me.

Like other Shimmer Polishes, this is more of a glitter topper, though in a few thin coats, you could definitely build up opacity. This has a clear base and is packed full of red, pink, purple and silver micro glitters..and because that wasn't pretty enough ;) there are also some larger gold glitter mixed in. I love the added gold. It just makes this polish for me!

Bonita Colors - Colorful Palette, The Artist Collection: Swatches, Review & Nail Art

Hello, all! I have a fun fall collection to share today. Bonita Colors has released their Colorful Palette, The Artists collection and I'm really impressed with the shades and overall look of this collection. The love the inspiration behind each polish and it makes the historian and art lover in me squeal in delight. This 8 polish collection is comprised of 4 polishes that dry to an almost creme finish, whereas the other half dries to a satin finish and shows much more shimmer.

Let's take a look at the swatches (and nail art!) and you can decide how you like them!

NAGG - Day 13: Hearts

Nothing to Disclose

Hello, all! Hope everyone had a nice weekend! I always hate Sundays because I tend to just worry about what will occur at work on Monday, but I try to still enjoy the time off. I was supposed to continue with the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge last Thursday, but as is my Mo, I fell behind and didn't get the post done. But I've got the Hearts theme to share with you today!

The Beauty Buffs - Neon Trend: Wood Grain & Neon Tribal Print

Hi, all! Yes, you read that title correctly! Today is an interesting one. I missed out on the last Beauty Buffs post because I was trying to get a ton of stuff done before my vacation, but I'm really excited to be back with the lovely ladies of this group and posting.

This week we're all tackling the "Neon" trend. If you haven't noticed while browsing my blog, I am not a neon girl. I really can't definitively say that I have real neon polishes in my collection. I love neons on other people, but I seriously struggle with wearing it myself (in clothing and nail polish). Because I'm more of a "earth tones" kind of gal, I was a bit stumped for what to do this week. But, Pinterest saved me yet again when I found these fantastic bangles!

Deb Shops - Mani Monday: Pastel Tribal Print

As seems to happen around here often, I've got another mani monday post to share with you all! I've put together this easy how-to for these fun pastel tribal nails which you can hopefully soon see over at blog.debshops.com. Since there is a bit of a delay in the tutorial being posted to their site, I'm going to share it here instead! Let me know what you think and be sure to check out the Deb inspiration dress!

NAGG - Day 6: Neon Tribal Nail Art

Hello, all! So I'm hoping that after today's post I will finally be back on track with the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge! I was technically supposed to do post these yesterday, but I was just so exhausted from work that the thought of editing photos made me cringe ;) I am once again sleepy tonight so I'll keep this post short and sweet.

Today's theme for the NAGG challenge is Neon! And, because I haven't done tribal in forever, I decided on a neon tribal look.

The Digital Dozen does Texture - Day 1: Metallic Tribal

Hello, all! This coming week may very well be my busiest nail art week ever! It's Digital Dozen week once again (this time our theme is Texture!) and I'm continuing on with the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge today and Thursday. Since that's not enough, I'm hoping to also squeeze in a few Easter themed manis! Can someone put more time in the day for me??

Very exciting news in the Digital Dozen world is that we have 4 new extremely talented ladies joining our ranks! I can't wait to see what they come up with and I know we will enjoy having them be apart of the group. I can't believe that this is my 6th DD week. Time sure does fly.

Mani Monday - Deb Shops Aztec T-Shirt Inspired

Hello, all! Hope you're surviving your Mondays. I'm struggling a bit with a nasty sickness that won't go away. I just want to go home and sleep! But, at least I've got some fun nails to make up for it? ;)

This week's Deb Shops inspired mani is one of my favorites that I've done for them so far. As I was doing this look, I wasn't sure if I'd like the final outcome. It can be tough coming up with tutorials that will appeal to not only your own readers, but also the readers of the company you're working for. Sometimes it's tough to find a balance between your style and the style of the reader. I ultimately stress out way more than I should for each tutorial that I do, but in the end, I almost always like what I come up with. Whew, just a little insight into how my silly brain works during a tutorial for someone else ;)

Anyway! I was inspired by this fantastic studded Aztec print t-shirt, which I've been wearing tons lately. Be sure to head over to the Deb Shops blog, The Perfect Fit, for my step-by-step on this funky tribal look :)
Happy Polishing :)

The Digital Dozen does Red, Green & Gold - Day 4: Tribal-esque Print

So, I'll be honest, this challenge theme has gotten me a bit discouraged - I'm REALLY struggling with coming up with unique and different concepts for this Digital Dozen week. I wasn't very pleased with yesterday's mani and I was hoping to redeem myself with tonight's look, but once again was so stumped on what to do.

I found myself procrastinating on tumblr and came across Karina Manarin's tumblr and this image. I think by now we all know I have a major love for tribal and aztec prints and always enjoy painting them and this style of print is one that it can work well with any color scheme.

The Hunt: The Cure For Outfit Envy...and now nail envy! ;)

Hello, all! Today I have a fun and simple tribal print tutorial to share with you all! I'm sure other nail artists out there can appreciate feeling stumped on what to create sometimes and we all have our ways to be inspired. I think I've mentioned it before, but I really enjoy using the website called The Hunt to help spark my inspiration and I tend to have 15+ tabs open whenever I browse the site. It's a bit addicting and I almost always find something I like or want to recreate.

Today marks the official relaunch of their iPhone app and it has an entirely new look and feel that just makes me so happy. It is very sophisticated and intuitive and needless to say I've been perusing the app a lot lately. I mean, look how pretty it is!
I've been noticing a lot of the "hunts" are looking for nail art tutorials and more often than not these hunt's are lacking any "finds" for the tutorials. SO! I decided to take on a hunt myself! There was one in particular that really caught my attention and I knew I wanted to attempt solving the hunt with a tutorial I put together myself. The hunter asked for an "easy-ish way" to do a tribal like shown so I did my own take on it. It also gave me an opportunity to do a design I might not have done on my own.

So here it is, my how-to for colorful tribal nails :)

The Digital Dozen does Black & White - Day 1: Southwest Tribal Skittle

Squee!! This marks my very first manicure as a member of the Digital Dozen and I am so excited for this challenge week and to be creating art with these amazing women! This month's theme is Black & White and I knew immediately that I wanted to do a tribal print of some sort for at least one of the days. Yes, I am still utterly obsessed with tribal print. I can't help it. I love the artwork of the Native American tribes of the Southwest of the US - it is just so inspiring to me!

Autumn Aztec Tutorial for Deb Shops

I've got one more post to share with you all tonight! Here is a super simple aztec inspired look that I put together for Deb Shops! I was inspired by one of their super cute leggings and I just love how these turned out. Be sure to check out the tutorial for my easy how-to on this look :)
What do you think of this look? Do you like aztec print just as much as I do? I feel like the color palette is an excellent way to transition this summery print into the fall season.

Happy Polishing :)

31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 17: Glitter

Hope everyone had a great week and that you're as happy it's the weekend as I am ;) I feel like whenever I have a short work week, I'm even busier than normal trying to cram as much as possible into my day. I'm tired!

I really had no clue what to do for tonight's look. Should I go with a classic glitter gradient (something I've done before) or stray a bit and try something more complex? In the end, I knew I wouldn't be satisfied if I went with a design I've already done. I'm going to keep this post short because I'm so exhausted, but I wanted to note that the inspiration for tonight's glitter mani came from one of the nails Meghan did for her tribal print mani on Tuesday (found here!). I absolutely loved the design that she did on her ring finger and knew I had to recreate it...I just didn't realize it would be so soon that I recreated it!

31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 16: Tribal Print

Yay! We're officially past the half way point with the 31 Day Challenge! I am so proud of us! I didn't actually know what today's theme was until about 5 hours ago, but I was so excited to see that it was tribal print. I really like the details that must go into a tribal print and I find it really relaxing to do these (I may be the only one in the world that feels that way haha). My ring finger nail broke today so I'm down to ultra shorties so bear with me!

There are so many different types of tribal print out there but I decided to go with a print central to my area of the world - Navajo print. The Navajo tribe are from the Southwest of the United States and are the largest native american tribe still in the US and I just love the colors and patterns from their pottery and weaving.  I tried to stick to colors that were more likely to actually be used in Navajo artwork instead of the bright and crazy tribal print I've been seeing a lot of (though I do love those so much as well!).

Southwest Print in OPI Euro Centrale

Alright! So I mentioned before that I had done 2 manis with my Winstonia brushes prior to the ones I actually posted for my review...so I'm sharing them now! This mani was inspired by a shirt I saw...and can no longer remember where I found it! :( But the colors in the shirt inspired me to use some of the colors in the OPI Euro Centrale collection!

This was another mani that I honestly didn't love when I first finishes it. I took it off right after I took pictures and I had no intention of posting it. However, after not looking at them for almost 2 weeks, I changed my mind and I think I like them enough to share here.

31 Day Nail Art Challenge - Day 9: Metallic

I'd like to preface this post with two things. The first, I am SICK. I feel like complete crud and I'm fairly certain a baby elephant has been sitting on my sinuses all day long. To be completely honest with you all, I rushed tonight's look a bit because of this and I'm not overly happy with the final result. I apologize and I hope you'll forgive me a few weird and funky manis here and there. Second, I have been listening to the Harry Potter books on audio books so I blame that for that fact that this mani reminds me slightly of the Deathly Hallows symbol ;)

Metallic. Hmm. I don't really "do" metallic polishes. I feel like they clash with my skin tone and I tend to avoid wearing them which completely bums me out because they are so fun looking. I am jealous of anyone who can pull them off with ease. I decided to go with Zoya's Trixie as my metallic polish and, since I so love southwestern style artwork, I decided to incorporate the two into this super funky (and messy :/ ) mani.
