Shimmer Polish - Melissa: Swatches & Nail Art

Press Sample

Hello, all! Today I have a Shimmer Polish shade and some simple nail art to share with you! I chose to use Melissa today because the mix of purple, fuchsia and gold glitters just felt so 'fall' to me.

Like other Shimmer Polishes, this is more of a glitter topper, though in a few thin coats, you could definitely build up opacity. This has a clear base and is packed full of red, pink, purple and silver micro glitters..and because that wasn't pretty enough ;) there are also some larger gold glitter mixed in. I love the added gold. It just makes this polish for me!

Since I knew I wanted to do nail art over this, I opted for two thin coats of Melissa over Zoya's Toni to get this look. As I mentioned above, you could get an opaque look with just the polish alone, but it's going to require a little bit of patience. The formula on this was super smooth and not too thick considering how much glitter is packed into this.

When I got to the nail art portion of this mani, my first inclination was to try something using a bunch of the colors in the polish...but then I thought I'd focus on my favorite feature of this polish, that gold glitter! While I didn't use gold specifically, I think (hope) the yellow I used instead pairs nicely with this.

And since I love the way a glitter looks mattified, I couldn't resist with this beauty.

So what do you think of Melissa? You can purchase this and other polishes from the Shimmer Polish Etsy shop for $12/bottle. Be sure to follow Shimmer on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter to stay up to date with the latest polishes!

Happy Polishing :)
