31 Day Challenge, Day 11 - Floral: Abstract Flower Nail Art

Nothing to Disclose

Hello, all! I'm FINALLY getting back into doing some posts for the 31 Day Challenge! Aren't you excited? ;) The next theme in the challenge is 'floral' so naturally, I'm excited about it. Surprisingly, I haven't done much nail art in the past few weeks (aside from the occasional swatching nail art), so it felt good to sit down and work on tonight's look...and, as I'm sure most of you know by now, floral is my favorite thing to paint so it was just an all around nice mani to do :)

I've done this sort of style and flower a few times before so when I found this image, I was really excited to put my spin on it. I liked that the colors are darker and more fall feeling, while still being exciting and providing a good amount of contrast to the look.

I started with a base of Zoya's Toni (which has been a favorite of mine lately) and then used a teeny tiny detailing brush and acrylic paints to add in the flower detailing. I painted each petal just far enough away from each other to leave a thin line of the base plum shade showing through. I really like this style.

I didn't realize when I started painting this that the color palette of this is somewhat reminiscent of primary colors. Sometimes primary shades together can be too much of a contrast, but I think that the dark background helps to balance everything out a bit.

What do you think of these? I quite like them and it's nice to just do some nail art :) be sure to check out the awesome floral looks Kelli and Meghan did for this theme via the inlinkz below!

Happy Polishing :)
