Nothing to Disclose
Hello, all! It's Day 2 of the Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales! I'm exhausted from my long Monday (why are Monday's so awful!?) so let's get to it!
So the great thing about the internet is that there is a TON of content and inspiration to draw upon...but the bad thing about the internet is that there is a TON of content and things to potentially find inspiration from! This has been a bit of a problem for this challenge because there are hundreds of classic fairy tales to choose from.
Yesterday's mani was a better known Hans Christian Andersen tale and today's will be a lesser known HCA tale (at least, lesser known to me!). Little Ida's Flowers is the story of a little girl who wonders why her lovely flowers look so tired and sad every morning. Upon further investigation, she discovers that each night, all of her flowers leave the garden to have a ball together! They spend hours dancing and listening to music and all around having a way cooler life than most of us ever will ;) So for today, I've painted some dancing flowers!
Since the flowers in the story all dance in middle of the night, I thought I would paint this look over a black base. Coincidentally, flowers over a black base is one of my favorite looks...so it's a win-win really!
I started with a base of Zoya's Willa (my new favorite black), and then used white acrylic paint to the base of each dancing flower, from the feet to the petals. Then came the green, red and yellow paint to create the flowers. I don't normally do a white base like that when I'm painting over black, but I wanted the leaf and petal colors to have an almost vintage/faded look where the white showed through slightly. If I made any errors (lines too thick or color in the wrong place), I went back over the spot with black acrylic paint to 'erase' the error.
Overall, I like these a lot! I like that it's not an overtly Fairy Tale look, but hopefully still represents the story well enough. What do you think?
Be sure to head to check out the inlinkz below to see everyone else's day 2 looks!
Happy Polishing :)
