The Digital Dozen does Winter Wonderland - Day 1: Ice Skating

Nothing to Disclose

Hello, all! Today marks the start of another Digital Dozen week and since I wasn't able to partake last month, I'm really excited to be back for December's theme of Winter Wonderland! On top of that, I have officially been a member of the Digital Dozen for a year now!...well, my anniversary was actually last month, but we'll celebrate now! I love the ladies in this group so much and am always amazed and excited but what they manage to come up with each month.

So for those who don't know, I live in California (Southern California at that), and, not surprising, it doesn't snow here...baring acts of god at least! ;) Because of that, around this time of year, I always find myself longing for cold and snow filled days to help make it feel like the season that it is.

There are plenty of things out there that make me think of Christmas and the holidays, but when I think of winter, it's a little more muddled. I always seem to combine the holidays with winter so for today I wanted to create a fun and bright winter wonderland sans all the 'extra' stuff we see this time of year. And so, my outdoor skating scene was born!

I've always dreamed of ice skating on a frozen lake out in the middle of the woods so this felt like my perfect little winter wonderland. I tried to add some details to this while still keeping things painterly.

The base for this look is OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls and all the other detailing was done with Americana craft acrylic paints. This scene sort of reminds me of those classic winter painting scenes that  you'll see on Christmas/Holiday cards (like these) so is kind of fun.

Overall, I'm happy with how these turned out, but I'm hoping that I can come up with something a bit more exciting for the next few days! What do you think of this look? Do you have a favorite winter-time activity? Be sure to check out the inlinkz below to see what the other ladies have cooked up for today!

Happy Polishing! :)
