Delush Polish - Scream Supreme, American Horror Story: Swatches, Review, and Nail Art

Press Sample

Hello, all! Wow, it has been awhile since I've blogged and I've been missing it so much. I've been crazy busy with work and personal life and I am in serious need of this weekend to get stuff taken care of get back on track. Today I've got swatches of 4 polishes from the Delush Scream Supreme collection to get back into my groove!

All the polishes in this collection are inspired by the TV Series American Horror Story, and while I've only watched the first and second season, I can totally appreciate each and every one of these shades and their inspiration.

I love how fun the polishes are and I think they're great for fall and beyond. These polishes are stunning on their own, but I also couldn't resist doing a bit of nail art with each polish :) Let's read through and see more swatch goodness!

A Night in the Asylum
This is one of my favorites of the 4! A Night in the Asylum is a stunning deep teal jelly packed full of small to large circles of holographic glitters. The dark, almost black base, is opaque in 3 coats and provides a mesmerizing effect of layers of glitter. I just love this polish! The formula was surprisingly easy to work with. I was concerned that the larger glitters would want to fight me, but this was pretty smooth. Aside from a tiny bit of glitter placement, this required minimal effort to use.

Seeing as this polish was inspired by the creepy Asylum themed season, I decided to free hand my interpretation of the cells that the characters all too often find themselves in. I really liked the simplicity of these and how the grey and the teal paired together.
Freak Show Spectacle
Freak Show Spectacle is inspired by the current (4th) season of American Horror Story and while I haven't caught up to this season, I can TOTALLY see the inspiration behind this shade. FSS is a purple jelly packed full of various shades of microglitters. All the glitters chosen are absolutely perfect to convey the feeling of a circus. The formula was pretty smooth and I had no issues with application. Shown is 3 coats with top coat.
Seeing as this polish is inspired by the circus, I wanted to do at least one mani that incorporated the classic circus tent stripes. Since the show is all about the weird and creepy and grungy, I "distressed" these stark white stripes by dabbing over them with some of Freak Show Spectacle.
Misty Day
This is another one of my favorites! I love the colors in this and the look of the layers of glitter in this green jelly base. This polish is packed with various glitters: copper and green micro glitters, medium multi-colored round glitters and various large round glitters. The formula on this was similar to A Night in the Asylum and was easy to work with. The darker base jelly again made reaching opacity super easy and shown is just 3 coats with top coat. There was a little bit of glitter placement for those larger glitters, but that is to be expected.

The polish was inspired by the 3rd season which I haven't seen yet, so inspired of being inspired by something from the show, I let the polish speak to me and I ended up with a rose garden on my fingers! I painted my favorite style of rose and really love how this turned out.
The Supreme
Finally, we have The Supreme! And it is supreme! It's a stunning blood red jelly that has some vampy undertones. It's full of red and purple glitters and applied great in 3 coats. I think this would look really stunning over a black base as well!
Since this was another shade from a season I wasn't familiar with, I just painted some random paisley-esque patterns over the top of this. I was having a really rough day when I started swatching these polishes, and when I started painting this, all of my tension and stress just left my body. I was wonderful...perhaps that's why I like this mani so much!
Overall, this is a great collection. I love how unique and stunning these polishes are and all of the formulas are easy to work with (as long as you use thin coats and some patience!). I think my favorites are A Night in the Asylum and Misty Day, though I'm pretty sure I can no longer live without any of these in my life ;)
