Hello, all! I have a great set of polishes to share with you today from China Glaze! Fall collections are by far my favorite - partly because I love the fall season so much, but also because it's an opportunity for brands to create vampy, moody, edgy, beautiful shades.
Cue the China Glaze Rebel collection. *insert heart eyes* :D as one of the first fall collections I saw this year, I was immediately drawn to the colors but was then even more excited for the inspiration. I was born in 1990 so I wasn't quite old enough to appreciate a lot of the good (and bad!) things about the 90s. But even still, I know almost many of the references made in this collection which made the Rebel collection all the more fun. As always, there are 12 shades in various finishes in this collection so let's take a look!
Hola at Ya Girl! is a green gold glitter in a clear base. CG calls it a holographic finish but it's definitely more multi-chrome glitter than holo, I'd say. The gold is a flakie so it helps fill in the clear base and create a striking gold-green finish. Shown is 2 nice coats. This one is very unique - some light almost creates a purple finish! You can use this over a base polish for a nice layered look, or by it's self as I've shown here.
Jagged Little Teal is a deep and slightly blackened teal and was my favorite of the cremes at first glance of the collection. So striking! Here is 2 coats. The formula was slightly thin and runny, but very workable.
Combat Blue - TS is a cobalt blue (almost purple) matters shimmer that is AWESOME. I honestly feel so edgy and cool wearing this color, which doesn't happen that often with polishes. 2 easy coats for this one without top coat.
Blue-Ya! is a vivid and darkened lapis blue with a green shimmer mixed in. I'm loving the depth in this shade. Here is 2 coats.
Teen Spirit is a deep purple shade with iridescent purple flakies. Great shade and nice formula. Shown is 2 coats. This gets ricer and deeper with the second coat so presumably a third would only add to that finish.
Purple Fiction is a metallic-ish purple shade that I anticipated leaving brushstrokes, but instead left me drooling. I really like how smooth and flawless this one applied and the glitter peaks through so nicely. Shown is 2 coats.
Y'all Ready for This is a red-orange shimmer that has me sining along to it's namesake song immediately ;) Easy formula and here is 2 generous coats.
Heroine Chic is a lovely charcoal shade with duo-chrome flakies. This is a really unique shade, and another that screams rebel! It manages to be both mysterious and fun. This one was slightly sheer and shown is 3 coats in order to reach opacity.
Dopo Taupe is a stunning taupe creme that is so lovely on! Always a sucker for cremes, but seriously, look at this beauty!! 2 breezy smooth coats.
Fresh Prince-ss is a powder pink creme that feels slightly out of place in this collection, but I'm not going to complain as it's a really nice shade. It adds some good balance to the overall collection. As is normal with colors like this, it was a bit thin on application and shown is 3 coats.
Pearl Jammin' is a pale blue pearlescent shimmer that, while isn't really my taste, is really striking nonetheless. Nice formula and shown is 3 coats on its own. It would have also been nice layered if you're so inclined.
Don't Mesh with Me is a purple-grey version of HaYG and could be layered over another polishes or worn on it's own as I've done here. Smooth but sheer formula and shown is 3 coats.
On the whole, while not every shade is to my taste, there is bound to be something for everyone in here. If you grew up in the 90's, you'll probably need to grab these for nostalgia's sake alone ;) But really, it's a very edgy collection with some really standout shades.
These are available now with select shades at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply stores, and the complete collection will be available online at BeautyPlusSalon.com for $7.50/bottle.
