Holy cow, I can't believe it's been a month since I took part in my first Digital Dozen challenge! They didn't kick me out after last month so today marks the beginning of my second challenge with this wonderful group and our theme for the week is Red, Green & Gold. Get ready for what will surely be a very Christmas-y week here on Wondrously Polished ;)
If you've been reading along here and on my other social media sites this month you'll notice this is my 3rd (yes, 3rd!) look that is somewhat inspired by Christmas Sweaters - I did this pastel christmas sweater look and I also did a tutorial for Deb Shops inspired by the Fair Isle sweater print. I think I have a slight obsession with this pattern. I'm going to make you all sick of seeing it soon, I'm sure!
For this look, I started with a base of Simple & Seasonal's Sparklers which is a really great gold foil. It's pretty much opaque in one coat and works really well in nail art. I cheated a bit with the red and green and used acrylic paint because I was in a no nonsense sort of mood when I started these and didn't want to be fighting the polish the whole time. I'd say the closest comparable colors I have to these are Zoya's Hunter and Livingston. I regret not using them from the beginning though because the acrylic doesn't have the same opacity as polishes - I'll probably be using those tomorrow to remedy the streaking.
Just ignore my thumb, it's a major fail ;)
I haven't done any other manis for this week's theme yet so if anyone has any requests or ideas for something they'd like to see me create, leave me a not in the comments or shoot me an email! I'm open to anything :) My goal this week is to come up with at least one look that isn't holiday inspired that uses these colors - think it can happen? ;)
Happy Polishing! :)
