Paint All The Nails Presents Monochrome

nothing to disclose

Hello, all!

Hope your week is going well! I'm so excited about today's post because I'm ACTUALLY doing some nail art! Yay! Better still is that I'm doing nail art alongside some of my favorite nail artists...I'm finally getting around to posting with the ladies of Paint All the Nails!

This month we've challenged ourselves to do monochromatic nail art. While monochromatic is generally values of any one color, we've decided to stick to traditional black, white, and grey for today. I'm so excited to see what everyone comes up with for today, but first, let's take a look at the design I've painted.

I was chatting with one of my girlfriends in PATNs the other day about this month's prompt and an idea struck me to do a monochromatic Southwest inspired pattern in black and white. I felt like the bold contrast between the geometric shapes would be visually interesting but also a challenging yet fun design to paint.

While this isn't inspired directly by any one pattern, I drew from various designs I came across on Pinterest or Google Images. I'm always curious to hear which designs people are drawn to when I do a skittle manicure like this. A friend of mine liked the pinky best, but I love the middle and pinky finger most...not loving the index finger but I painted that last and ran out of ideas :P Which finger is your favorite?

I used a base of China Glaze's Intelligence, Integrity, & Courage for the grey backdrop, then used acrylic black and white paint for the details. Since there is a lot of detail in this, I wanted to be able to showcase it and I used KBShimmer's new Oh Matte! matte top coat to finish off the look.

Overall, I like this look. I think I like it better in person than in photos since the imperfections in the detailing isn't as noticeable, but for not having done something this intricate in a long while, I'm pretty happy with the final product.

Be sure to check out the other ladies' posts for today via the inlinkz below and let us all know what you think about this month's challenge!

Happy Polishing :)
