Black on White on Salmon - Intricate Floral Nail Art

nothing to disclose

Hello, all! I have yet another nail art post to share with you all today! Tonight, I turned on Battlestar Galactica (I'm watching it for the first time and loving it so far!), and started painting! The beauty of tonight's mani is that I did it just for me. I felt like doing nail art, so I did it :) that is a feeling I've been missing for awhile and I'm loving that my mojo is back.

Today's mani is inspired by this pretty salmon colored button blouse that I wear to work. It's covered in black outlined white flowers and has sort of a retro feel to it. It's a pattern I've loved for a long time but haven't made the time to attempt to paint.

Today when I was at the store, I was chatting with the checkout girl about my nails and she mentioned that I should paint my shirt...so I did!

I started with a base of Zoya's Wendy and then used white acrylic paint and a trimmed down Atlas No. 58B Red Sable brush to paint the basic shapes of the flowers I wanted to recreate. When I did this on all my nails, I came back in with black acrylic and carefully outlined and detailed everything. If I made an error and my black lines got too thick, I painted over them with white to fix the mess up. I finished with a coat of regular top coat, followed by a nice matte top coat.

Overall, I really like how these turned out, though I'm not a huge fan of what this color does to my skin tone. Regardless, I'm happy to be sporting this mani for the time being and I really enjoyed the relaxing process of painting these.

How do you like these? I'd love to hear what you think? Do you get inspired by your clothes very often?
