The Digital Dozen does Summer - Day 5: Watercolor-esque Wildflower Nail Art

Nothing to Disclose

Hello all! Happy Sunday! I've FINALLY made it through Digital Dozen week! Aren't you proud ;) Just two days behind! I know I said I was going to try and incorporate black into all my manis, but I figured at least one summer mani should be bright and fun so I've painted this watercolor inspired wildflower print!

These are inspired by a lovely pattern by Vikki Chu that I found on Pinterest. I love the freshness of the watercolor and figured I'd give it a try and put my own spin on it!

I'm sort of on the fence about these and I can't quite put my finger on why that is. I love the colors together and like the concept, but I'm not sure if it all came together quite as I'd hoped. I wanted it to look more like water color that it did. Also, the orange dots are reminding me of corn kernels for some reason....haha!

I used a base of OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls (which I need to order more of D: ) then began the watercolor endeavor. I initially tried doing these with polish instead of acrylic paints, but I couldn't get the right consistency with them. I ended up switching to acrylic paints, which were still a pain to work with as they just spread willy nilly across my nail in a big heaping mess. I ultimately figured it out, but I ended up not watering down the colors as much so the colors are a bit more opaque than I had originally intended.

What do you think of these? Did you enjoy this Digital Dozen week? I think the ladies in the group kicked some major ass and knocked this challenge out of the park! Be sure to check out the inlinkz below to see for yourself ;)

Happy Polishing!
