The Beauty Buffs - Black and White Trend: Wood-blocking Floral

I can't believe it's already been two weeks since my last Beauty Buffs mani! This week our trend is black and white and while I'm feeling quite sleepy from my late night last night, I'm so glad that I was able to come up with something to post alongside these talented girls.
As seems to be my MO, I had no clue what to do for this look prior to sitting down at my desk tonight. I browsed all my usual inspiration sources (pinterest, google, blogs) but couldn't find anything that was really speaking to me. So, I decided to just paint my nails black and see what white pattern I could come up with on top of it.
Lately I've been on this retro/vintage/graphic floral kick and so I drew inspiration from some of my favorite elements of all those. I love the look of the negative space between the petals and I'm especially in love with filling in the empty space around the flowers with the small dashes. I think it adds that little extra something (I did something similar in my recent retro floral look). They remind me a little bit of wood blocking prints!
I used a base of American Apparel's Hassid (I've said it before and I'll say it again...I love this black!) and white acrylic paint and a teeny tiny trimmed detail brush for the flowers. I just love how these turned out! So much better than I was expecting them to :)
What do you think of these? Do you have a go to mani or nail art style when you're not sure what to do? I'd love to hear what you think of these! Happy Polishing :)
