The Beauty Buffs - Neon Trend: Wood Grain & Neon Tribal Print

Hi, all! Yes, you read that title correctly! Today is an interesting one. I missed out on the last Beauty Buffs post because I was trying to get a ton of stuff done before my vacation, but I'm really excited to be back with the lovely ladies of this group and posting.

This week we're all tackling the "Neon" trend. If you haven't noticed while browsing my blog, I am not a neon girl. I really can't definitively say that I have real neon polishes in my collection. I love neons on other people, but I seriously struggle with wearing it myself (in clothing and nail polish). Because I'm more of a "earth tones" kind of gal, I was a bit stumped for what to do this week. But, Pinterest saved me yet again when I found these fantastic bangles!

Can we talk about how perfect those bangles are!? I mean, who would have thought to combine wood with neon? A GENIUS, that's who! The combination of earthy wood tones and bright neon allows someone like me to hop right on the neon bandwagon. I love them. I can't say I love my mani interpretation of them, but I gave it my best shot. I think these are a love em' or hate em' mani since they're so different and out there. Sometimes I think they work, and other times I'm not so sure.

To create this look, I started with a base of Zoya's Louise then used Zoya's Flynn to paint wavy vertical lines to mimic the look of wood grain. With Bonita's Neon Pink and Flaming Juan and Zoya's Charisma, I added the simple tribal print over the top.

So what do you think of this combo? I really like the idea of pairing neon with a more neutral (or even nude) to help balance out the vibrancy of the neon. Be sure to check out the inlinkz below to see what the other ladies have come up with this week. Happy Polishing :)
