Hi, all! Hope you're having a fantastic weekend full of too much relaxation and happiness ;) I've got a review of a new indie brand called Cake Nail Lacquer to share with you all today. They are a 5 Free and Vegan friendly brand which is always nice to see. I'm pretty impressed with the formula on these so let's take a look!
Digital Garden is a dusty purple creme that was incredibly opaque - I could have easily gotten away with a single coat! The formula was once easy to use, those this was slightly thicker than Mona Lisa Marie. Still very manageable though. This isn't the most unique color, but if you're looking for a nice purple to add to your collection that has minimal coats, this is a nice option.
Mona Lisa Marie
MLM is a deep army green creme that is really unique. I love this color! I love funky shades like this and I don't think I have any polishes quite this color in my collection. The formula on this was really great - just 2 coats to reach opacity and it was self-leveling which always makes things easier.
Dolly
Dolly is a really lovely and classy pink creme. I'm usually not a fan of pinks, but I really like this one on me. I think there are likely similar shades of pinks out there, but this one again had phenomenal coverage and I only needed 2 coats. The formula was similar to Digital Garden in that it was slightly thicker, but still very manageable.
Met Him at Coachella
MHaC is an iridescent shimmery calypso blue with a foil finish. Since it is a foil, the inevitable brush strokes do occur, but that was to be expected. The first coat was a bit on the thin side and I ended up using 3 coats to even everything out. Shown is without top coat. While I'm not personally a huge fan of foils, this one is a fun color that is still appealing to me.
One thing I did notice about the cremes from this collection was that a white color showed up on the bottoms and sides of the bottles. While it makes the polish color look odd from the outside, I didn't notice anything wrong with the polish itself when applying it. I also came back and used these at a later date and there was no change to how the polish applied then or how the colors look so I don't think it's anything to worry about. I have a few other indies that have this same separation and there is no issue with them either. Just thought it should be mentioned since you can probably see it occurring in some of the photos.
Also! I did a quick little nail art look with these! It's just a simple negative space look but I actually really like how it turned out.
