NAGG - Day 12: Camouflage

Nothing to Disclose

After almost a one month hiatus, Mireia and I are back with the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go (NAGG) challenge! And while I've enjoyed this challenge so far, I think today has been be least favorite theme going into the manicure...I mean, Camouflage? First off, I'm not much of a camo girl. I'm from an area where people wear it all the time and with too much vigor. Because of that, my idea of what "camo" is, is a bit tainted by my personal experiences.

My other problem was that camo seems like a pretty straight forward concept and I wasn't sure how to give it a fresh look. While doing camo in bright and girly colors can be tempting, it's not really my taste and so I decided to stick with the traditional earth tones you often see instead.

While I was unsure of this look before starting it, I'm actually pleasantly surprised and pleased with how this mani turned out. I did a camo tutorial way back when and I had a similar experience where I ended up liking the final product quite a lot. Maybe it's because I can't actually see my nails ;)

I added the white chevron/triangles as a last minute touch because I felt like the camo alone wasn't working for me and I'm glad I did. It feels a bit like a military uniform or something and I like that quite a bit.

This is a pretty straight forward mani to put together. I started with a base of Zoya's Flynn and then added weird and random squiggle shapes in Zoya's Hunter, Taylor and a mossy green acrylic paint. The white was done with acrylic paints as well. And of course, you can't have a shiny military uniform, so I added a matte top coat.

Overall, I don't hate this mani as much as I thought I would ;) what do you guys think of camo? It's definitely a funky print to take on!

Happy Polishing :)
