Hello, hello! Can we just talk about the fact that it's already June again!? When did that happen? Time flies...but the good thing about the beginning of the month means there is a For the Love of Polish box available! Yay! I was lucky enough to review last month's May Galaxy box and was blown away by everything.
For those who don't know, this box is a collaboration between Polished for Days and Illyrian Polish and each month they create limited edition shades around a certain theme. They also bring in a guest polish maker and this month it is the fab Cupcake Polish! Fittingly, this month's box theme is "Beach Days" and features polishes that make you pine for the ocean. Sales for the box will go live tomorrow, Friday, June 5th, at 12pm PST.
Sand Castles by Illyrian Polish is a nude-grey crelly with scattered holo and tiny iridescent and gold glitter! As a lover of nude/staple shades, I'm digging this! (heh! digging...get it? because Sand Castles!) The flashes of gold in this are quite lovely and the formula was really easy to work with. Shown is 3 coats.
Beach'in is Polished for Day's contribution to this month's box and is a vivid pastel neon orange (yes!) and has subtle tiny iridescent flakies mixed in to add a nice shimmer effect. The orange is an interesting shade and I wasn't fully able to capture it (boo, camera!), but it reminds me of what neon orange looks like under a blacklight...does that makes sense? Anyway, this color is the epitome of summer to me. I can just picture myself next to the pool/ocean/river wearing this polish on my toes, soaking up the sun. The formula was easy enough to work with (it is on the thicker side but that lent itself nicely to the application, at least for me) and shown is 3 coats.
This box comes with 3 different styles of nail vinyls as well. One sheet has 4 large polka dot and 4 large striped decals. The other is mermaid scales! Exciting! Here's a mani using the polka dot vinyls - these are large decals and I ended up cutting them in half so I got more use out of them. The pink is OPI's Mod About You.
And finally, Tidal Wave by this month's guest maker, Cupcake Polish! This is a dense blue holographic microglitter in a light blue base which means...2 coats and you have opacity! Seriously, the tinted blue base makes this so easy to work with. Really stunning. The formula was nice and smooth, if on the thicker side and shown is 2 coats.
And of course, I had to use the mermaid nail vinyls with the sparkly mermaid-y polish ;)
Overall, I like the polishes in this box. I think the 3 together do a great job of representing this month's theme and there is a little bit of everything in this box (a neutral, a bright, and a sparkly polish). The nail vinyls are also great quality and were really easy to work with so those will get you a few extra fun manis.
You can purchase this month's box starting tomorrow, June 5th, at 12pm PST for $27+shipping. There are only 30 boxes available. Be sure to follow these brands and the box on Instagram to keep up to date with everything and so you won't miss out on the launch - last month they sold out in just a few hours!
