Nothing to Disclose
Hello, all! It's time for another week with The Beauty Buffs! As it's now December, it is fitting for us to take on our first set of Holiday themed looks so for today, I'm showing my take on one of my favorite parts of the holiday seasons - decorating! Now, there are many (MANY) ways in which to decorate for this time of year, but my focus is on that very important pine tree, the Christmas tree!
Nothing gets me in the mood for this time of year quite like getting the Christmas tree decorated. I especially love the smell of a real pine tree in the house during Christmas. It's one of the things I miss most about having a fake tree...so for today, I figured I would paint a little homage to the pine tree!
My take on this is perhaps a bit more subdued than most ornament covered tree and is possibly more wreath or garland like than anything (I do love a good wreath!). I think the pine cones and berries included with the pine needles make it feel more natural, but I still think it has a very holiday feel to it.
I started with a base of Polish My Life's Nude Lace (quickly becoming one of my favorite base polishes) and then used acrylic paints for the rest. I started with some thin yellow lines as the base of each pine needle bunch, then carefully painted dark green pine needles along each yellow line. I added accents in various green tones, then painted a big blob of brown for the pine cone base.
The pine cones are probably my least favorite part of this mani, but that's alright. I added accents of brown, tan, and white to flesh out the pine cone, and finally, painted the berries. I wanted them to look waxy and shiny so I added a few white details to make them look semi-reflective.
Overall, I think I like these! They feel festive without going too crazy and I always enjoy painting semi-realistic looks. What do you think? Up to snuff? What is your favorite part of the holiday season?
