Happy Fourth of July! - American Flag inspired Nail Art

Happy Fourth of July to all my American readers! I'm sure all you non-american folks are getting sick of seeing red, white and blue plastered on everyone's nails, but hey, we get one day a year where it's acceptable, so might as well go all out, right? ;)

I've got some simple (yet stupidly time consuming!) American Flag inspired nail art for you all today. I can't say my mani is anything groundbreaking in terms of design, but I like how it turned out quite a bit!

I ended up free-handing this entire mani because of those stripes. I thought about keeping my lines completely straight, but I ended up adding a wave to them in hopes of it resembling our flag blowing in the wind. I think it adds a little extra interest to this mani and I really like how they turned out :)
Those little stars on my index finger and thumb? Would NOT recommend doing them. They were a huge pain in my behind. They took me a stupid amount of time and I'm pretty much over stars for the next year. I wish I knew how to use a stamp so that I could have done that instead.
The base for these is OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls, and I used American Apparel's Downtown LA and Mount Royal for the red and blue, respectively.
AND! Because I'm going to be out in public today, I figured it would be a good idea to have both of my hands painted patriotically. I tried doing the stars on my dominant hand but it was laughable how terrible they looked. I opted instead for a simple dot to represent the stars. From far away you can hardly tell there's a difference...which makes me mad I didn't just do the dots on my non-dominant hand haha oh well!
I hope that everyone celebrating today is having a wonderful time - those in other countries, the day is almost over, don't worry ;) Be safe and enjoy your fantastically patriotic Friday night!!
Happy Polishing :)
