The Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales - Day 5: The Seven Ravens

Hi, all! Sorry I'm so late with my final Digital Dozen post! This Fairy Tale week was a toughy for me, but I absolutely loved seeing what all the other ladies put together for the week.
Day 5 of DD week ends with yet another Brother's Grimm tale - The Seven Ravens. The story tells of a man and wife that had 7 sons but they desperately wanted a daughter. When the wife finally gave birth to a baby girl, the baby was sickly and her parents feared she would not make it. In case things took a turn for the worse, the family wanted to quickly baptize the daughter and so he sent his 7 sons to fetch water for the baptism. When the sons get to the well, they manage to drop the bucket down the well and NONE of these dummies can figure out what to do to get the water and so instead of returning home to figure something else out...they just stay by the well.

The Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales - Day 4: Godfather Death

Nothing to Disclose

Yay! I'm proud that I'm still keeping up with this week's Digital Dozen challenge! These challenge weeks never seem very daunting prior to the start of the weeks...but after the first few days, it gets tough! I usually run out of 'easy' concepts/ideas and really have to dig deep to come up with looks.

For Day 4 I've turned to the trusty (and creepy) Brother's Grimm fairy tales archive. One story in particular stuck out to me during my perusal of the online library - Godfather Death. Understandably I was immediately intrigued and clicked on the story.

The Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales - Day 3: The Golden Bird

Nothing to Disclose

Day 3 of The Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales is upon us (yay!), and holy wow am I discovering just how many classic fairy tales are out there! Hans Christian Andersen and the Brother's Grimm each have such prolific works that it's a bit daunting attempting to narrow down potential stories. I've taken to the 'scroll-and-scan' technique, where I scroll down the list of fairy tales and scan for titles that jump out at me.

Tonight's fairy tale manicure is the result of this technique as I have never heard of this story before, but I instantly liked the premise. The Golden Bird tells the story of a king who has a tree of golden apples, but each year, one golden apple gets stolen. Obviously (I mean, we need some conflict!), the king is a bit miffed by his apples disappearing so he sets his 3 sons on the task of discovering who is stealing the apple.

The Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales - Day 2: Little Ida's Flowers

Nothing to Disclose

Hello, all! It's Day 2 of the Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales! I'm exhausted from my long Monday (why are Monday's so awful!?) so let's get to it!

So the great thing about the internet is that there is a TON of content and inspiration to draw upon...but the bad thing about the internet is that there is a TON of content and things to potentially find inspiration from! This has been a bit of a problem for this challenge because there are hundreds of classic fairy tales to choose from.

The Digital Dozen does Fairy Tales - Day 1: The Ugly Duckling

Nothing to Disclose

Hello, all! I am so excited about this upcoming week because it's time for another week of posting with The Digital Dozen ladies! We're starting off the new year by welcoming SIX immensely talented ladies to our little DD family and I'm so excited to see how they take on each month's challenges.

This month's theme is all about Fairy Tales and I was initially really excited about this theme...and now I'm feeling intimidated by it! There are SO MANY fairy tales to choose from and so many interpretations to consider. I figured I'd start off with something cutesy and settled on the classic fairy tale of The Ugly Ducking!
