The Digital Dozen does Recreation Week - Day 4: 2014 Ladies

nothing to disclose

Oh man, are you guys excited for Day 4 of Digital Dozen Recreations week!? I am ;) I have 3 ladies that joined up with the group in 2014 and made awesome additions to our talented brood.

Sheila from Pointless Cafe
Hannah from The Dalai Lama's Nails
Victoria from Vic and Her Nails

Let's jump right in! :D

11. Pointless Cafe: The Digital Dozen: Countries & Cultures - Chinese Landscape
Sheila is one of the nicest people you'll ever meet and I'm so happy to have such a kind a talented woman included in our numbers. I love seeing what she dreams up for each DD week as she always seems to be pushing her boundaries and attempting something wonderful. This Chinese landscape from Countries & Cultures week was no different and I fell hard for this look.

For my mani, I used a base of OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls and then used a makeup sponge and grey and tan acrylic paint to sponge on some random color kind of like Sheila did. With my black acrylic paint and a striper, I added in the cherry tree branches. The pagoda and bridge came next with some greys and blacks, followed by the water. Finally, I used a few shades of pink and magenta to add the cherry blossom finish. I really like how this turned out, though I don't think I captured it quite as well as Sheila managed to.

12. The Dalai Lama's Nails: The Digital Dozen does Floral: Day 3 - Delft Flowers
Next up is Hannah! I really dig Hannah's style and love the unique things she comes up with on the regular. She did an incredible Grand Canyon mani that I ALMOST did instead of this one, but in the end I settled on these beautiful delft flowers!

For my mani, I yet again used OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls for the white base and OPI's OPI...Eurso Euro for the blue. Then I carefully painted the flower pattern with first the full opacity OEE and then thinned it out to fill in the lighter blue shading (like Hannah described).

13. Vic and Her Nails: The Digital Dozen does Countries & Cultures: Day 2 - Batik
Next up is Victoria (Vic) and her cultural manis. While Vic is amazing at all sorts of nail art, I especially love that she does so many pieces inspired by her culture and others. This Batik mani is no different and I just love the look of her original mani...though I can't say I managed to quite capture it :/

In Vic's post, she shared an image of the original print she was inspired by and it had a much darker base than the one she did. Since I didn't have a green in the same hue as the original mani, I went darker and used Zoya's Alexa for the base. Then, I used white acrylic paints to blob on and various outlines of the Batik shape. With an orange, light & dark green, and yellow acrylic paint, I randomly painted over the white base to create the look of fall leaves. I finished up by outlining each leaf with the white acrylic paint. I like this but I definitely didn't do her mani justice!

Wow, can't believe tomorrow is the final day of this!! I've had a blast revisiting and recreating my fellow DD member's looks and I hope you're still enjoying the journey with me as well! Be sure to check out the inlinkz below to see what everyone did for today!

Happy Polishing :)
