The Digital Dozen does Red, Green & Gold - Day 4: Tribal-esque Print

So, I'll be honest, this challenge theme has gotten me a bit discouraged - I'm REALLY struggling with coming up with unique and different concepts for this Digital Dozen week. I wasn't very pleased with yesterday's mani and I was hoping to redeem myself with tonight's look, but once again was so stumped on what to do.

I found myself procrastinating on tumblr and came across Karina Manarin's tumblr and this image. I think by now we all know I have a major love for tribal and aztec prints and always enjoy painting them and this style of print is one that it can work well with any color scheme.

I thought about doing a gradient or something a bit fancier as my base colors, but I settled on solid red, green and gold bases so as to not distract too much from the line work. The red is OPI's Lost on Lombard (I swear I own more than this one red but I'm finding I really like it at the moment!), the green is Julep's Hoch (one of my favorite emerald greens!) and Zoya's Tomoko as the gold/silver/champagne color (another favorite!). I used white acrylic paint for the line work and finished it off with a top coat.

I've decided that I like this look! I think that they can be called tribal or aztec, but I also think for this time of year, they could easily be interpreted as snowflake-y or ornament-y (those are words, right!?). AND, call me crazy, but don't the index and middle finger sort of look like zip up Christmas sweaters!? Like what Mr. Roger's would have worn? Anyone? :D

Hopefully I'm not straying too far from our theme as there is a lot of white in this look. I just had to go where inspiration took me! I can't help it! ;)
