I have been looking forward to today's challenge theme since the very beginning - and now that it's here, it feels so underwhelming! I've wanted to do a mani based on one of my favorite kids books, Harold and His Purple Crayon. The story is about a little boy named Harold who one night decides he's going to for a walk with his purple crayon...but finds he doesn't have light to walk by so he draws himself the moon...and he soon find that his walk isn't very interesting so he draws some things to keep it interesting. You can see the book read here if you're interested!
I decided to recreate some of the my favorite scenes from the book and here is the result!
I used OPI's My Vampire is Buff as a base and Zoya's Keiko is the (perfect) purple. I had attempted to paint Harold in a more detailed form as he is in the book, but my canvas is just too small and my brushes too large to actually create him semi-realistic. Instead, I went for a more abstract look to Harold.
I'm going back and forth on if I like these or not - I've been wanting to do them for so long that I had built up such high expectations for how this would turn out so I'm feeling like these fell a bit short. What do you think? Which book would you have chosen for today's challenge? I'm thinking I want to do a bunch of inspired by a book manis in the future :) I can't believe we're almost done with this challenge! Crazy!
Happy Polishing :)
