December Nail Art Challenge - Day 1: Pattern

Way back in December of last year I decided to give a nail art challenge a try. I would never have thought that it would spurn this mad love of nail art, but I can fully attribute those nail art challenges to my improvement and advancement as a nail artist. They pushed me to go outside of my comfort zone and try things I never would have on my own and for anyone looking to improve their skill and range, a challenge is by far the best way to go about that.

The Challenge I took part in last year was one put on by Californails on Instagram and I remember being so incredibly proud of the snowflake nail art I had created. I had just gotten my first set of nail art brushes and had finally figured out how to use it and I created this mani. I've decided to continue the cycle and participate (if I can!) in this year's December Nail Art Challenge as well! It's all done on Instagram using tags to show your looks but I really enjoy doing them.
The first theme for this month is "pattern" and I'm pretty much obsessed with Christmas sweater patterns at the moment. I want to cover my house in them. And myself in them...I mean, I have a totally healthy obsession with it!
While browsing patterns online, I came across this FABULOUS fair isle themed sweater and couldn't resist the unique color palette.
I used Lime Crime's Lavendary as the base and OPI's My Vampire is Buff for the details. I used my Loew Cornell 18/0 Script brush for this and boy oh boy was that moose a tough one to paint! I had originally attempted the leaping deer that is on the sweater I chose, but as you can see on my thumb, that failed miserably so I switched to the moose.
I am so beyond excited about the nail art possibilities that go along with this time of year and I'm really hoping to have tons of art work to share with you all :) Digital Dozen week is next week so that should be fun as well! Side note, I apologize that my lighting has been a bit "off", I just downloaded a new image processor and I'm trying to learn the ropes and it's got a bit of a learning curve. Bear with me! ;)

Happy Polishing :)

  3. I have to say, your sweater pattern hand-painting looks as good if not better than some of the stamping efforts I've seen! Adorable!

  4. Hi, I'm coming from WPNFF blogger bootcamp post. :) First off, I love your blog. Everything is so neat and clean and so pretty! :D My only feedback is that the bright green against the grey is a little hard to read (on the sidebar). I'm following you now on all your platforms! :)

  5. Feedback from WPNFF. I agree with Jessica. I find the green difficult to read. Other then that, I really like the layout of you blog. Very sharp!

Lindsey, I seriously swoon over ALL of your manis. And the fact that you took a pastel purple and made it holiday like - blows my mind. Why do I never think of these things?! Your awesome!

  7. I came here from Will Paints Nails for Food feedback link too! I love the content and layout - clearly you're doing a lot of things right looking at the number of followers you've picked up in your first year! I've added you to my reading list :)

I don't think I'd change anything except for maybe making your green text a tiny bit darker - it's a bit hard to read against the white on my monitor.

I love getting comments! However, sometimes life gets in the way and I'm not able to respond to every one, but know I do read and appreciate each and every one. If you have questions, I'll do my best to respond in a timely fashion!
