il etait un vernis - Végétal Collection: Swatches, Review & Nail Art

press sample

Happy Monday, my friends! For those who visit my blog often, you may notice that things look a bit different as I slaved away over the weekend redoing my blog design! I was getting tired of the other one and was ready for something new but hopefully still fun. I think it's very much "me" and I had a lot of fun working out the bits and pieces to make it what I wanted. You might see me tweaking the colors here and there for awhile, but as of right now, I think I'm pleased with the outcome. I'd love to hear what you think of it!

Anyway, onwards to what we're really here for, nail polish! I have a wonderful collection to share with you today that is bound to chase off any case of the Monday's you may be experiencing. This is the latest Spring collection from Il Était un Vernis, a French brand that I've been swooning over since their inception. Let's take a look at the garden inspired collection, Végétal

Ixia is a stunningly vibrant azure blue holographic polish with sparkling glass flakes mixed in. The formula was insanely easy to work with and this was almost opaque in just 1 coat, though I've shown it with 2.

While I was swatching these, the collection was sitting happily in front of me on my desk and I seriously swooned over how pretty Ixia and Lunaria looked together so I ended up doing some floral nail art with the two in honor of the theme of the collection.

Lunaria is a soft copper holographic flakie that seems to shift from a golden champagne to a light tan. This feels like a very updated take on this classic color and I like it quite a bit. It does have a tendency to leave brush strokes, but the right application can solve that problem. The formula was insanely smooth and easy to use and shown is 2 thin coats.

Paeonia is a mellow coral pink holo with the same great formula as the rest of the collection - smooth and easy application and while I could have gotten away with 2 coats, I've shown it with 3 to help hide my visible nail line.

"Blue Hydrangea, cold cash divine; Cashmere, cologne and white sunshine"...this powder blue shimmer immediately brought to mind that Lana Del Rey lyric. Hydrangea also boasts some lovely silver micro glitter that really pulls the whole polish together. Shown is 2 easy coats.

Dahlia leans toward a deep and rich blue on me, but in the bottle it looks more blurple (purple and blue combo). It's another beautiful holo and is probably my favorite of the bunch because it's just so stunning. Shown is just 2 smooth coats.

I also ended up doing a simple brush stroke mani using al the shades because these polishes needed to be in a mani together ;)

Overall, I am beyond impressed. The formulas on each of these was phenomenal and the colors themselves were absolutely stunning. I love that these shades are inspired by the flora so many of us know and love and I definitely see the inspiration shining through in these polishes. My favorites are probably Dahlia, Ixia and Lunaria, though it's hard to choose a favorite.

You can purchase these polishes from the Végétal Collection individually or as a whole collection from the Il Était un Vernis website. If they don't ship to your country, fear not as they have several international stocklists that you can check out (link).

Be sure to follow Il Était un Vernis on your favorite social media site to stay up to date with the latest collections and releases from this great brand. I know I can't wait to see what beautiful things they create next!
