The Digital Dozen does Nature - Day 1: River Rock

Nothing to Disclose

Hello, all! Well, I'm already a day behind, but it's time for another Digital Dozen week! I didn't finish up last month because I had so much going on (which, unfortunately, I still do), but I'm excited to attempt this week! We're tackling the theme of "Nature" and I'm so excited about it! I love being inspired by nature so I can't wait to see what my brain manages to scrape together. No, my brain and I don't really talk much until we need to ;)

For today, I've decided to paint river rocks, something I've always had a love for. My childhood home has a creek that runs around it full of rocks like these and I have such wonderful memories of hearing the creek running during the wet season. *sigh* I miss that!

If you'll notice, on my middle finger, one of the rocks is in the shape of a heart! That's for my mama who is always on the hunt for a great heart shaped rock :)

I painted this whole look using acrylic paints and started out randomly blobbing in different shades of grey and tan. When that was dry, I outlined everything with the black acrylic paint and then added accents of slightly lighter shades of tan and grey to give the rocks more dimension. I finished it off with a glossy top coat which I think is fitting since it looks like the rocks are wet!

How do you like these? Do you see river rock? Or maybe just oddly colored eggs? ;) Do you find yourself having a connection to something random like this? Be sure to check out the inlinkz below to see what the other ladies were up to for Day 1 and let me know what you think of these in the comments!

Happy Polishing :)
