31 Day Challenge, Day 12 - Intricate: Free Hand Henna & Mandala Inspired Nail Art

Press Sample - Some Items used provided for honest review

Hello, all! Hope you are having (or had) a wonderful weekend. It always seems to fly by too quickly for me! Today I'm getting back into the swing of things with the 31 Day Challenge 2.0 that I'm doing with Will Paint Nails for Food and The Nail Polish Challenge (yes, we took about a two month hiatus...oops!). Today's mani is for the day 12 theme, intricate nails!

If you read my blog regularly, you'll know by now that I love to paint intricate and detailed nail art. But sometimes creating nail art for a theme you truly love can be the trickiest thing of all. I've encountered this for a few of my 31DC2 manis which caused me to postpone creating something for a few days in order to come up with something I really liked.

For today, I can't say that I'm in love with what I've created, but I do feel that it's intricate and it was fun to paint nonetheless. I really love painting mandala and henna inspired looks so I did my best to come up with some designs that reflected those elements in this mani.

The grey base for this look is Pear Nova's Pilsen Lofts & Art Walks (I'll have swatches and a review of a few of these soon!) and I used a dark indigo blue acrylic paint for the detailed work. I like to use a medium length trimmed down detail brush for detail work like this, but I'm still on the quest for a slightly shorter and super thin brush that lets me get even finer and smoother lines.

Overall, while this might not be the most exciting design, I do like the calming look of it and think it fits with the 'intricate' theme for today. What do you think of this look? Do you enjoy intricate looks or more simple looks?
