The Digital Dozen does Metal - Day 1: Quatrefoil Tiles

Hello, all! I'm so excited to be back posting with the ladies of this Digital Dozen this week! I wasn't able to partake in the Decades challenge last month as I had way too much going on, but I'm back for "Metal" week today...though, it's going to be a tough week since metal brings absolutely nothing to mind for me. Eek!

For my first mani I turned to my beloved google...and came up with nothing. So pinterest and I got friendly and I came across these really unique quatrefoil back splash/ceiling tiles that I'm pretty sure I'll now have to incorporate into my own house now.

While I did manage to create a "metal" mani, I can't say that I'm overly in love with how these came out. I do like that they look textured like the original tiles do, but I wish I had managed cleaner lines when I painted the quatrefoil pattern.
I started with a base of Zoya's Trixie for this, then took my detail brush and some dark brown acrylic paint to paint the quatrefoil pattern. Since I wanted it to look antiqued, I took a damp makeup sponge dipped in Trixie and lightly sponged over the quatrefoil pattern.
These were also a pain in the butt to photograph. I honestly almost gave up on this look because of how difficult it was to take a picture of. This is one of those manis that I think I like in person more than on film.
I'm so excited to be back for this month, but I may still secretly hate Meghan for picking this theme because it's going to be a tough-y! You'll all have to let me know if you have any brilliant ideas for what could be done for metal.
As always, be sure to check out the other ladies in the Digital Dozen by clicking on the inlinkz below! I've seen a few of their looks already and am always impressed by what they come up with.

Happy Polishing :)
