Habit Cosmetics - Nail Art, Swatches and Review

*Products provided in exchange for an honest review. Please see my disclosure policy for more info.*
I hope everyone is having a fabulous Saturday! Mine has been fairly lazy and I had planned on getting caught up on a bunch of things today...but so far I haven't been very productive. Story of my life ;)

Today I have some beautiful polishes to share with you from a new to me nail polish company. Aja Frierson is the brains behind Habit Cosmetics and has managed to create not only the most aesthetically pleasing bottle in the history of bottles, but she's filled them with some amazing polish. Habit polishes are made with Myrrh Extract so they naturally strengthen your nails while you wear them. They are Formaldehyde, Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate (DBP) and Camphor free and aren't tested on animals (yay!). To top it all off, the packaging is sustainable - the caps are made with bamboo and are shipped in FSC Certified paperboard. Basically, they use less plastic and help reduce paper-waste.
Blue Velvet - This may be my favorite from the polishes I'll share. This is a dusty dark denim blue creme with a flawless formula. It's such a fabulous color. But I'm also a sucker for a good blue. This is 2 coats.
Tabou - An orangey-red creme this is another creme, but is much more sheer. It took me 3 coats to reach opacity but still had a great formula. I think this would really pop over a white base polish.
Belle de Jour - A classic nude with a subtle pink iridescent shimmer that adds that extra little something. I struggled so much with capturing the shimmer. If I tilted my nails so you could see the shimmer, the glare from my lights became too much and you couldn't see anything anyway. You can really see the shimmer in the bottle though! This is 3 coats and the formula was on the thinner side but still very easy to use.
Sweet Life - Another favorite! This is one of those colors that you can't quite describe - or photograph ;) It's a magenta/purple/pink/berry polish that leans toward neon and is so amazing. I did my very best to show the true color of this polish but my camera struggles when it comes to purples and pinks. Great formula, 2 coats.
Moss - A bright olive green, Moss is a new favorite green of mine. I especially love how this looks next to its bamboo cap. It's a unique green that reminds me a bit of China Glaze's Def Defying but I think I like this more. It's a funky color that I sort of want to cover my house in because I love it that much. Again, excellent formula, 2 coats.
And, because nail art is kind of my thing, I ended up creating something with all these beauties! When talking with Aja, she mentioned her love of fashion forward geometric design and and while looking for inspiration, I came across these magnificent geometric maps of famous cities and knew immediately that I had to do them. I found out after the fact that Aja has a passion for travel and France so it was sort of perfect :) I ended up recreating a rough interpretation of a few cities on my nails using these polishes.
Index - Paris, France
Middle - Milan, Italy
Ring - London, England
Pinky - Manhattan, New York
Overall, I really love these polishes. Great formula, strengthening ingredients, fabulous color and bottle designs, and just all around good for your nails and the environment. At $18/bottle they may seem a bit pricey, but with all the extras packed into them, I do think these are worth it. You can purchase Habit from their website and keep up with them on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram.

Happy Polishing :)

  3. I absolutely love the design and the idea of bamboo caps! The colors are a mix of amazing and classic. The price is a tad too high though... Good quality products don't need to be that expensive nowadays...
