Change to Disqus for Commenting

Hello, all! I just wanted to write a quick post about a change that has just occurred on my blog! I've decided to switch to Disqus for commenting on my blog and I hope you'll all be okay with the change!

To quote a favorite movie of mine, A Knight's Tale, I've got something to say to Blogger's commenting system: "You have been weighed, you have been measured, and you have been found wanting." In other words, commenting via Blogger sucks. Majorly. It's incredibly inconvenient to figure out if someone has responded to your comment and I don't think that it is very conducive to open communication between the blogger and the reader.

I know that everyone has their opinion on Disqus, but hopefully everyone feels more favorably about it than not. I want to try it out for a bit and see how the whole process goes. Disqus allows you to sign in with several different social media accounts, as well as create your own Disqus account (which I recommend because it provides a whole new level of notification and interaction!). I hope you'll bear with me if you have a really strong dislike of the commenting system!

I am not unreasonable though! If you guys get in there and find that the whole commenting process is cumbersome, irritating, and an all around terrible experience, shoot me a comment or email and let me know! I would love love LOVE to receive feedback from you guys (good and bad) about how this new system works.

I looked through some of the past comments that have been imported into Disqus, and it does look like they are a bit wonky for past replied comments, but hopefully moving forward it will all be fabulous!

Whew! Apparently that wasn't that quick of a post...here's a picture of Fonzi being adorably handsome as an apology ;)
Happy Polishing! :)

  1. Glad to see this! I recently switched as well and it makes a world of difference. No more spambots and now people actually see my responses to their questions and comments. I hate when people have the blogger comment system because i never know if they responded.

  2. I switched to Disqus as well and I found it a huge improvement! Mainly for replies notifications. Great call! :-)

  3. Awesome! I'm glad to hear you like it better! I was nervous because awhile back a friend of mine had said they didn't comment when people used disqus. Have you noticed any drop in comments or anything like that?

  5. Well in all honesty there was a drop in comments. I think you have to sign up to comment using disqus. But at least there are less "cool post! chek out mi blog xoxoxo" comments haha

  6. Haha I'm so glad you included the terrible spelling with that! ;)

I guess that's to be expected since you have to sign up...hopefully more ladies will be making the switch soon and everyone will have a disqus account!

  7. I for one, love disqus. Hahaha! glad to see you swap to this one too! :) It's much easier to keep track of possibly conversations taking place.

But yeah, it... doesn't function all too well with previous comments/replies on blogger. Hahahahha!! Definitely worth it in the long run!

Hahahahaha!!! That's one really handsome dog! Hello Fonzi! :D

  8. Disqus is good for keeping two sided communication going and remembering what and where you've commented. The painful bit comes when you (and by you, I mean I) can't remember your password, you try different devices or Disqus logs you out for no reason. I guess logging in with social media would be easier but I've had issues with that as well. If I were to choose the better of two evils, I'd choose Disqus reluctantly as I know if someone responded and a conversation can actually take place!

  10. I have a wordpress blog so I find it hard to comment on some blogs that have captchas, etc. I personally love having a discus account since it seems to be the only good way for me to see responses to the comments i make on non-wordpress blogs :)

  11. I quite like Disqus! I largely agree about noticing responses and things. Also, I use Bloglovin' and one things that really annoys me is that when I leave a comment using the Blogger system, it makes me 'quit' Bloglovin' - though I don't know whether to attribute that to Blogger or Bloglovin' or other. I like the CommentLuv (I think?) system that a lot of Wordpress bloggers use, too, though I think that might be a little bit more hassle to install on Blogger.

I love getting comments! However, sometimes life gets in the way and I'm not able to respond to every one, but know I do read and appreciate each and every one. If you have questions, I'll do my best to respond in a timely fashion!
