The Digital Dozen does Recreation Week - Day 5: 2015 Ladies

nothing to disclose

Wowza! Can you believe that we've made it to the end of the week!? I'm so thrilled to finally be here but I might actually almost miss it now...just kidding ;) This whole week was a ton of work and lots of planning on my part, though I had a blast doing it so I'm really not complaining!

I have the final group of ladies who joined up this year, 2015. Yet another group of skilled nail artists to call our own.

Amanda from Lady Maid Nails
Ashley from Ashley is Polished Addicted
Amber from Nails Like Lace
Serene from Copy Cat Claws

14. Lady Maid Nails - Digital Dozen Nature Week, Watercolor Nail Art
Amanda is one of those artists that you love to hate because she does an amazing job of painting the most detailed things that look EXACTLY like they're supposed to. I struggle sometimes with painting exactly what I see with my eye...but this lady excels at it. I have loved this watercolor look from Amanda since I first saw it and while I was super intimidated by it, I still wanted to give it a shot. I think I unfortunately failed to do this one justice, but I still liked it all the same.

I used a base of OPI's My Boyfriend Scales Walls and various black, grey, red, and orange acrylic paints to create this look. I wish I had been able to duplicate the watercolor effect like Amanda's original many boasts, but oh well!

15. Ashley is Polish Addicted - The Digit-al Dozen Does Fairytales, Day One: Beauty and the Beast
Ashley is not only a total sweetheart, but she is also a prolific swatcher and nail art goddess ;) I've enjoyed getting to know her and her blog now that she's apart of the group and I especially love her very first DD mani...Beauty and the Beast inspired stained glass! Look at the prettyness! :D

While Ashley used a bunch of sparkly polishes for her look, I ended up doing mine with all acrylic paints. I painted my basic outline with the black acrylic paint first and then followed it up with the blues and purples. Because I wanted to have a little more oomph, I added a sparkly coat of China Glaze's Fairy Dust to sprinkle over this mani. Love it! Wish it had been easier to photograph, but hopefully you can still appreciate it :)

16. Nails Like Lace - The Digit-al Dozen Does Patterns on Patterns: Flowers on Stripes
Next on the adventure is Amber! I've followed Amber for a long while now and she's another prolific and talented artist. She's always so on top of her DD posts (during DD week, she's usually the first to share her mani with the group which makes my evening of nail art during a little more inspired) and it was hard to pick which mani to do today. In the end, I settled on this simple look because I wanted to make sure I kept it as close to the original as possible.

For my mani, I stared out with pink, red, yellow and white acrylic paints and freehanded the stripes. With black acrylic paint I added the stripes separating the colors and then followed it up with the blue and gold centered flowers. The gold is the only polish I used in this look and it's Essie's Good as Gold.

17. Copy Cat Claws - The Digit-al Dozen does Nature: Day 1 Sea Turtle Nail Art
And last, but most certainly not least is the talented Serene! Serene is another lady that I've been following for awhile and whose style is super appealing and fun to follow. I've really enjoyed having her apart of this group as I think she's a great catalyst for the rest of us ladies to put our best work forward :)

This sea turtle mani was done by a few other ladies this week and I'm sure you can see why...it's about the most genius thing ever!

For my mani, I used a base of Powder Perfect's Lagoon which is apart of their new release that I'll have swatches of soon. I used white and 3 shades of blue to paint the sunburst coming through the water (though I did not capture it in the same way Serene did :(...) and then painted the sea turtle and coral (?) silhouettes last. Loved this one!

And that's it! How did you like the week?? I compiled a HUGE collage that shows all the manis I did this week...but I needed a few more manis to make a square collage so I added in 6 of my personal favorite manis as well ;) I would love to hear which is your favorite and I hope you've given all these ladies a quick look because they're worth the follow :)
