Habit Cosmetics - Winter 2014 Collection: Swatches, Review & Nail Art

Press Sample

Hello all! Happy Veteran's Day (and a big thank you to those who are/have served our country)! I have polishes from one of my all time favorite brands to share with you today, Habit Cosmetics! My first experience with Habit was over a year ago with a few of Aja's original shades and she has since released a dozen or so more beautiful polishes that will make anyone drool. The three I have today are apart of this year's Winter collection which is inspired by the ocean...so naturally it is absolutely stunning.

For those who don't know, Habit polishes are all natural and use Myrrh extract to help naturally strengthen the nail. It is vegan friendly, cruelty free, gluten free and 5-free and in my opinion they have some of the most unique, chic and beautiful bottles around. Read through to see what I think of these and let me know your favorites!

17 Deep Sea
This is a dark navy blue creme that is the most fall/winter feeling of the bunch. I quite love this shade, but I know I have a few dupes of it floating around in my helmer. The formula on this was on the thick side and after 2 coats it didn't want to self-level, but it was nothing the Habit top coat couldn't help smooth out. While I don't think this is the most unique color, I still really love it as a staple shade. Shown is 2-3 coats with top coat.

18 Soft Focus
Sigh. I just love this shade. Soft Focus is a periwinkle creme with a buttery smooth formula. I think this is a very suitable shade for winter time, and it reminds me a snow filled winter morning. Shown is 2-3 coats (though I could have gotten away with 2) and a top coat. This is one of my favorites of the collection - I loved it so much I wore it as my birthday polish!

19 Prairie
Prairie is another favorite from this set and it is a beautiful dusty teal creme. I'm a sucker for teals so I find myself very drawn to this shade. I really appreciate that this color isn't too in your face and can easily be worn year round. The formula was similar to Soft Focus and applied very smooth. Shown is 3 coats (again, 2 would probably have been fine) with top coat.

And, as is becoming my MO, I've done some nail art with these shades! They pair so well together that it was almost a requirement that they be put into a gradient of sorts. I wanted to mix it up a bit though and ended up using a dry brushing technique to roughly blend the shades and create more of a distressed gradient effect. I REALLY love how this turned out!

I also wanted to try something a little more edgy and paired some simple line work over the distressed gradient. Let me know what you think!

Overall, Habit once again does not disappoint. I love these colors so much and while Deep Sea was a little bit tricky to work with, I think these are great polishes to add to any collection. I'm especially in love with Soft Focus.

You can purchase these and many more shades now from the Habit Cosmetics website (as well as a few in store locations) for $18/bottle, plus free shipping on orders over $25. Be sure to follow Habit on your favorite social media site to stay up to date with the latest releases and promotions!
