The Digital Dozen does Texture - Day 1: Metallic Tribal

Hello, all! This coming week may very well be my busiest nail art week ever! It's Digital Dozen week once again (this time our theme is Texture!) and I'm continuing on with the Nail-Art-A-Go-Go challenge today and Thursday. Since that's not enough, I'm hoping to also squeeze in a few Easter themed manis! Can someone put more time in the day for me??

Very exciting news in the Digital Dozen world is that we have 4 new extremely talented ladies joining our ranks! I can't wait to see what they come up with and I know we will enjoy having them be apart of the group. I can't believe that this is my 6th DD week. Time sure does fly.

Through all these DD themes we've gotten through, I think that texture has stumped me more than any of the others. I like my nail art smooth! ;) It's going to be a huge challenge for me to come up with looks for this week. After some mulling about, I did manage to come up with today's look after playing around with some of my Pretty Serious textured polishes.
Since I was feeling a bit uninspired, I decided to just go with the flow for this design and ended up with a tribal-esque metallic look. I started out with a base of Pretty Serious' Surfing Alien and then painted with grey acrylic paint over it. I decided to go with acrylic paint because it's thinner than nail polish, and would therefore show the texture of Surfing Alien through it.
I left these without a top coat to maintain the textured look and I really like how they came out. The remind me of little abstract robots or something?! I don't know, but I think they're fun and different. I'm not usually one to use silver polishes so that alone made me step out of my comfort zone.
As I mentioned before, this is a busy week of nail art for me and I will actually be posting 2 more times today alone! Madness, I tell you! Be sure to check out the inlinkz below to see how the awesome ladies of the Digital Dozen get their texture looks done :)
 Happy Polishing :)
