It's day 2 of the Digital Dozen Black & White challenge and I've got simple floral look to share with you all.
I kind of struggled with today's design. I had a bunch of thoughts and unevolved concepts of floral looks that I couldn't quite grasp enough to put onto nail. I ended up doing a pretty simple carnation look similar to some that I've done before but I really like the subtlety of this look.
Once again, I used China Glaze's Liquid Leather and White on White for the base and flowers. I did use black acrylic paint for this because I didn't want to smear the petals with my top coat. The acrylic also gives me more control of my brush strokes.
To create this look, I started with the base black polish then used the white to create random semi floral shaped blobs on my nails. Since I was going to be defining each petal with the black, I wasn't too worried about how the white looked at this step. Then, using my La Cornielle 18/0 liner brush, I used the black acrylic paint to make a TON of almond shapes over the white.
I really like that these are subtle and at first glance seem almost grey. I had a real problem with doing a floral mani that was so starkly black and white so I feel like the small linework makes this look a bit softer.
Be sure to check out all the other fabulous manis from today by checking out the inlinkz below!
Happy Polishing :)
